Billings: It is probably the most complete team performance we have had this season. The last couple of games either our batting or bowling has been not firing and this was a good effort. To beat the Scorchers side who sit at the top of the table unbeaten for a reason, like that feels good. Jason Sangha was due for a big one, there's a nice mix of youth and experience with me, Hales, Cutting, Ross and the young ones in Gilkes and Sangha. Absolutely [when asked if he would accept a call from England for an Ashes berth]. I was a part of the squad last year and didn't play, have been in a lot of bio-bubbles with the England team without playing much, so to get a call would be nice. I love being a part of the Thunder unit and highly value my time here, but Test cricket is still the pinnacle and that is something I would love to do.
Sam Billings is the player of the match for his 35-ball 67.
22:40 local: Chasing 201 the Scorchers needed their big guns Marsh and Munro to fire but the early dismissal of Marsh along with a few other wickets killed the game pretty quickly. It left too much to do for Munro and the New Zealander had to be content with just a fifty. Tye came in and provided some entertainment with his big-hitting but without solid partnerships, the Scorchers were always behind the eight-ball. McAndrew broke the back of the innings with the wickets of Marsh and Patterson in one over and returned to clean up Turner. So a much-needed win for the Thunder who now move to the 4th spot in the points table and a rare off-day for the Scorchers who stay top of the table despite the defeat. Stay tuned to know who the player of the match is...
short and at the body of Behrendorff who gloves the pull on the on-side, falls safely
down leg, short and ill-directed
slower and wider outside off, Munro dabs a single to the off-side
lucky and four. Full and in the slot, Munro slogs but the outside-edge flies over and wide of the keeper
low full-toss on off, Behrendorff flicks a single to deep mid-wicket
low full-toss on the pads, Munro flicks but finds deep mid-wicket
So the Scorchers now set for their first loss of the season.
fired full outside off, Munro gets a single to long-off
Gilkes and Jason Sangha collide but the latter comes up with the catch. At the end they both have a smile. Slower and Kelly advances but miscues the loft, Sangha ran back from extra-cover and took it, Giikes wanted it too from sweeper, just a slight contact and everything is fine
full and wide outside off, Munro slogs but it's a thick inside-edge down to long-on
yorker length outside off, Kelly backs away but can only squeeze a single to sweeper cover
full and wide outside off, Munro slaps it to deep cover, just the single
good sliding catch from Hales after running forward from long-off. Tye had to go for it and sliced the full-toss towards Hales, end of Tye who goes after a fine innings. That should be the end of any hopes the Scorchers had
low full-toss on middle, Tye drags the big hit to deep square
length and Tye has launched this miles over mid-wicket. Perfect slogging range for Tye and he doesn't miss out. Smashed off the meat
cutter and Tye who has premeditated the lap has to wait an age for the ball to arrive, when it does he is in no position to make contact, loops over the stumps
back of a length into the pitch, Munro pushes wide of extra-cover
full and right up there, Tye flicks behind square for a single
low full-toss and Tye belts it straight down the ground, bisects long-off and long-on
low full-toss outside off, Tye chops it off a thick inside-edge wide of Billings but for just a single
