Scorchers vs Sixers, 6th Match at Perth, BBL, Dec 17 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
7.20 pm So the Scorchers continue their home field dominance. Few visiting teams have been able to find a winning formula at this venue. Sixers have lost their first two matches of this season to start behind the eight ball.
Player of the Match is Jhye Richardson with his 4 for 9: "It's really nice to be back home. Traditionally we've started the tournament quite slowly. And to get a win like this in front of a home crowd after not having been here for a couple of years feels great and these are the nights that we cherish forever. I definitely haven't had as much prep as I would have liked. Missing out on some Shield games, not playing Marsh Cup. It was a bit of a race against time to get ready for the first game dealing with this heel niggle, but thankfully enough it got good enough back end of this week. So I'm very happy. With the pace of the wicket, hitting a hard length for as long as possible is key and keeping it simple. We spoke a lot about not necessarily how we're gonna bowl but more our attitude in the field and I think the guys really supported the bowlers. We took all of our catches bar mine. We want to be the best fielding team so that's how we're going about it. [Speaking on Aaron Hardie's half-century] I just think it's confidence in his own game. He's worked so hard over the last couple of years and I think now he's reaping the rewards of that. He's becoming a player that everyone loves and everyone knows that can step up in that situation."
That's it for tonight's live coverage. Come back tomorrow for more live BBL action. Until then, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
