Lands it length around the line off and he pounces on it, flays it over deep midwicket for a maximum! Typical trademark Stoinis hit, loves this area of the ground and seals the deal in style!
Strikers vs Stars, 10th Match at Adelaide, BBL, Dec 23 2025 - Match Result
Stars won by 6 wickets (with 11 balls remaining)
That's all for today. Until next time, this is Rvel Zahid, signing off on behalf of our team. Take care and enjoy the holidays!
Tom Curran, Player of the Match: New ball, important over, trying to set the tone...haven't done too much of it in my white ball career. I tend to bowl when it's harder, there was swing on offer and lucky. Felt like we got a lot of bases covered, quality of Haris Rauf at the end, and Peter Siddle bowling unbelievably so yeah. (on Siddle) I couldn't have enough words to say about Siddle, example for any young player, great man, and unbelievable performance, hopefully he can continue, he is a massive weapon for us. I think we had a bit easier preparation this year, getting a win obviously helps and get back and pick from there helps too
In the end, it was a comfortable win for Melbourne Stars. They restricted the Adelaide Strikers to a modest 155 for 8, and the pacers, alongside Swepson, stymied the run flow effectively. Haris Rauf picked up three wickets and was miserly in his spell, using slower balls and cutters to great effect. Tom Curran set the tone by picking early wickets in the powerplay, including a double-wicket over early on, which put Strikers on the back foot. Short got a fifty but got out at the wrong time, and the late surge and impetus were lacking. In reply, Sam Harper's fifty and Campbell's 28 broke the back of the chase. There was a tricky phase, but Stoinis rose to the occasion, and his 32 off 22 got his team over the line. Another confidence-boosting win! Stars have a balanced line-up, the momentum, and they are a side to be reckoned with in this competition.
takes the pace off and darts in a slower off-cutter that rises from a shorter length, slcies to backward point
Shorter in length on middle, uses brute force in his wrists and thumped to midwicket
Over the wicket, darts in a spiteful short ball, rises chest height and he looks to hack it to the midwicket fence, gets on the grille and there will be pause for a concussion check, he was early through the pull
Sam : "so incredibly irresponsible putting the young man under that kind of pressure.... poor captaincy I feel"
Spears a yorker in the quiet zone, shoveled out to short midwicket, thought about a single, direct hit at striker's end and he make sure to slid his bat in
Banged in on a shorter length on off, leans back on the bumper and hits it to deep backward square
Over the wicket, pitched up and straightens down the line middle and leg, whipped to deep backward square
Shorter in length and follows him leg-side shimmy, gives himself plenty of room and blazed behind backward point for a four, found the gap perfectly, only 7 away from a comfortable win
Lobbed up fuller on middle, full stride forward and times the sweep to perfection into the gap at deep backward square, Stoinis putting the game to bed with timely hits
lobbed up on a shorter length on middle, gets on top of it and thumped square of deep midwicket
Quicker on a length and the line goes awry, second wide of the wire
Pushes through a good length and drifts into the pads, slower through the air, steps back and uses the depth of the crease, Tonks it cruelly to deep backward square, disappears into the rope
Lands it full towards him and he gets cramped for room, forced to long-on for a single
Skiddy short of a length ball veering back at him, backs away and ends up blocking it back to the bowler
Around the wicket, drops short and angled outside leg-stump, wide
Hits a cutter on a length and makes it go on with the arm towards middle, mows it downtown and finds a fielder at mid-on, will there be a twist in the tale? Stars still the favorites but a few more wickets could really bring the contest to live
Shortish and given some width, clatters it to deep cover region
On a length and jags back at middle, tries to go big on the leg-side and gets a thick outside edge, stayed in the air for a while and dropped by the fielder charging in from deep cover-point, did all the hard work, got underneath and lunged forward, even got his fingertips on it, crucial moment in the game!
Fraction short and curling across from a wide off-stump line, smokes it downtown but has not got enough power behind it, lands past long-on and settles for a couple
Rams in a pinpoint accurate yorker on middle, digs it out back to the bowler
