Kreusch completes the cruise! That shot symbolises the way Warriors have gone about the chase - innovative and enterprising. Kreusch walks out to the off side and paddles it from wide outside off, to the right of a dismayed short fine-leg fielder for four. Game, Warriors!
Wayamba vs Warriors, 2nd Match, Group A at Gqeberha, Sep 11 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
That brings an end to our coverage of the first of two games today. Do tune in at 3.30pm GMT for the next game - Chennai Super Kings v Central Districts. On behalf of Cricinfo, this is Nitin Sundar signing off following Warriors' fine win. Cheers!
Davey Jacobs: "Nice to get off to a winning start. Rusty did well, I thought Wayamba did well to reach that total after losing two early wickets, but we had the bowlers to manage to restrict them in the end."
Mubarak: "No regrets about batting first. We were looking at 170-180 and if we had got there, we could have put a fight. Losing two wickets in the first over was a setback.. hope to come back in the next game. The last five overs were critical, especially the last three - we got only 15 runs or so, not good enough at this level."
Man of the Match - Rusty Theron: "Getting early wickets puts you in a good position. I just try and be as 'cheap' as I can and it came off today. Playing against a Sri Lankan side up front - my experience in Sri Lanka did help, they play a little differently. There was a little movement today, spinners also played an important role."
Ian Bishop is doing the honours at the presentations today.
Sid Monga's bulletin is getting updated as we speak, so you can relive the thrills and spills of the game as we wait for the presentation.
Boucher: "We pulled it back in the last 5-6 overs of Wayamba's innings.. We were wary of the Mendis and Herath factor in the late overs, so set us up to deal with that.. Once you hit one or two in the middle, things start going well." I repeat - Whadaplaya!
So, the two home sides have started their CLT20 campaigns in style. Warriors follow suit after Lions' win against Mumbai today. Wayamba had their moments, but were outclassed in the crunch moments of both innings and in the end, that made all the difference.
good yorker from Welegedara, it has come atleast 20 minutes too late after all those generous full tosses and stuff.. Kreusch can't do much, plays it back down to the bowler
Mendis ensures the match will go into the 19th over, shortens the length as Bouch prances out and he can't connect.
Kreusch stays in the crease and plays against the spin towards wide long on for one
opens up the off side and punches through the covers for a single
slides down the leg as Bouch moves around and concedes a wide
Boucher has a train to catch! Slog-sweeps the the googly from off stump line, and it takes off towards the midwicket fence. One bounce, two, four
leg spin on a length on leg stump, the batsman is out of the crease and on-drives easily for one
10 needed of 3. Warriors are cruising. Mendis comes on for his last over.
full outside off and driven into the covers off the back foot for another single
pulls away with furious anger, races out to the outfield where the fielder does well to save it
and another boundary, Warriors are doing this easily now. Length ball on the pads and Bouch easily chips it off his pads, one bounce over wide long on
poor ball again, high full toss outside off, and Boucher will be angry he could only pick two into the covers
better length, almost a yorker just outside off and jammed down to long off for a single
fulltoss outside off, Boucher looks to carve it over the covers, but not timed too well.. Couple of bounces into the outfield for one
on off stump and cut away into the off side. Six singles off that over
what happened there? That hurried through after pitching, and he was late on the shot but got a thin edge down to third man
googly, Bouch does not pick it I think, but sweeps it with the turn square for one
Kreusch chips out and works it away to midwicket - another single, that's all they need
Has Mendis come on too late for his second spell?
full on middle and leg, Boucher drives down to long on for one
