full and wide outside off, and that is a comprehensive win for the Titans
Titans vs Scorchers, Group A at Centurion, Oct 13 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
The openers, Jacques Rudolph and Henry Davids, set up the innings, and though the Titans lost steam towards the end of the innings, 163 proved more than enough. CJ de Villiers turned in the headlining performance, with three wickets, and Perth Scorchers just couldn't get any momentum - their run-rate didn't reach the six-run mark till as late as the 16th over.
Presentation:
Marcus North: "Titans started well, they got off to a flier, we pulled it back well, we kept them to a par score, but we knew our top four needed to make most of the runs."
Martin van Jaarsveld: "I thought we lost a bit of momentum towards the end of the innings, credit to them they bowled really well. CJ de Villiers was fantastic, Thomas as well. A great crowd like this is like our 12th man, I thought we played the conditions today."
Man of the Match is CJ de Villiers. "For the tam's sake I am very happy, for myself I am over the moon." Great to see a bowler get the award despite a batsman from the winning side making an unbeaten 83.
That's a wrap from game one. Next up, is the clash between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders. My colleague Sid Monga is all set to start comms for that. Join him here.
low full toss, thrashes it towards wide long-on for two
full ball on middle stump, worked towards square leg for a single
walks away from the stumps, Thomas follows him and Marsh can't squeeze that away for more than a single, marsh gets a half-century
slower bouncer, Marsh adjusts to send that well behind the man at deep backward square leg
a yorker into the blockhole, edges it to the off side
short ball outside leg, a hook from Hogg sends the ball towards wide long-on, CJ ends with 3 for 16
slower bouncer from CJ, Hogg is beaten by that one, it bounces over the stumps
length ball outside off, slammed towards sweeper cover
length ball on off stump, thumped towards long-off for a single
sends this one towards sweeper cover for a single
terrific work from Kuhn, it was a full ball from CJ, Marsh looks to power that one, inside-edge means Kuhn has to dive to his left to cut it off
a full toss on the pads, whipped towards midwicket for a single
looks to launch this out of the park, misses
superbly done by Marsh, a near yorker outside off, somehow gets his bat under it and sends it scurrying to the point boundary
muscles that down the ground, can't beat long-on, Hogg returns for a suicidal second, the throw was terrible though, neither at one end or the other, bisecting both, Hogg reaches safety
short ball, Marsh pulls that towards deep backward square leg, they decide against the single, as Scorchers realise they need Marsh on strike to stand a chance
Atlas Khan notes:Ethy mhabalti have 60 first-class not out. "Ethy mhabalti have 60 first-class not out." Out of 109 innings too. Time to push him up to No. 10, I say.
shortish ball outside off, Hogg was moving away from the stumps, steers the ball to third man
full and way outside off, Marsh had backed away from the stumps, he can't reach this, CJ has superb figures here, 3-0-11-3
a yorker around off stump, squeezed out towards cover, just three of the over so far
