The openers, Jacques Rudolph and Henry Davids, set up the innings, and though the Titans lost steam towards the end of the innings, 163 proved more than enough. CJ de Villiers turned in the headlining performance, with three wickets, and Perth Scorchers just couldn't get any momentum - their run-rate didn't reach the six-run mark till as late as the 16th over.
Presentation:
Marcus North: "Titans started well, they got off to a flier, we pulled it back well, we kept them to a par score, but we knew our top four needed to make most of the runs."
Martin van Jaarsveld: "I thought we lost a bit of momentum towards the end of the innings, credit to them they bowled really well. CJ de Villiers was fantastic, Thomas as well. A great crowd like this is like our 12th man, I thought we played the conditions today."
Man of the Match is CJ de Villiers. "For the tam's sake I am very happy, for myself I am over the moon." Great to see a bowler get the award despite a batsman from the winning side making an unbeaten 83.
That's a wrap from game one. Next up, is the clash between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders. My colleague Sid Monga is all set to start comms for that. Join him here.
