Cornelius "CJ" de Villiers is a quick bowler who can also bat a bit. He made his debut for Free State in 2006, and quickly established himself as one of the brightest young fast-bowling prospects in South Africa by grabbing 40 first-class wickets in 2007-08. His performances have helped him climb most of the rungs which lead to the national team, already being selected for the Academy side, the A side, and for two years in the Emerging Players side. A pivotal member in Eagles' charge to a place in the inaugural Champions League Twenty20, he took nine wickets in the best-of-three Pro20 semi-finals against the Warriors.
