Yorkshire won by 3 wickets

New

11.58pm Yorkshire's last Championship win was on April 17, 2022. They've won their first in 17 and they've done in with composure at the last, despite Derbyshire brawling all the way, and coming back from the dead twice in one game, most notably through that stunning stand between du Plooy and Haider Ali. But while it was Dom Bess who sealed it, the main man was a familiar character for the vanquished Derbyshire. Shan Masood blazed a trail for them last summer, and now he's doing the needful for his new county.

So, here endeth an entertaining basement battle, and here endeth another random episode of County Pop-up Comms. Who knows where we will strike next...

Masood, meanwhile, has probably missed the chance to bring up his hundred with a matchwinning six...

49.6
3
Watt to Bess, 3 runs

flicked off the full length, out to deep midwicket, a long chase and they come back for three to level the scores

A long chat between du Plooy and Watt... on come some more helmets for fielders to crowd the bat. Five in total...

49.5
Watt to Bess, no run

dipping on the full length, tapped to the on side

49.4

Thomson to Bess, FOUR runs

steps into the stroke, and whipped with gusto up and over mid-on! That's a confident strike, and it's taken Yorkshire past 200... nearly there now...

48.3

Thomson to Masood, 1 run

rocks back this time and carved out to deep point

48.2
Thomson to Masood, no run

flight and dip, grips past the left-hander's edge! Well bowled...

Watt to Bess, no run

onto the front foot, poked to cover. Another over of good progress for Yorkshire

47.5
Watt to Bess, no run

slides deep into his crease and guides the drive to cover

Still four close catchers, off and leg

Paul: "Urgh. Trying not to get to ahead of everything. The last two overs yesterday proved the adage of "add two wickets to the score" and doing that now makes me nervous"

47.4
1
Watt to Masood, 1 run

fired down the leg side, a calm clip off the toes to backward square

47.3
Watt to Masood, no run

faster, flatter, skids through but just misses the off stump

47.2
4
Watt to Masood, FOUR runs

swept, without control, but effective! Down on one knee, clawed greedily over the in-field, and bobbles away to the rope at midwicket. The fifty stand is up

47.1
Watt to Masood, no run

round the wicket to the left-hander, jabbed down into the leg side

Sure enough, it is a switch of ends for Watt... last roll of the dice for Derbyshire, maybe
