Lahore Whites were 150 for five in their first innings after bowling
out Rawalpindi for 225 on the second day of the Quaid-i- Azam Cricket
Trophy Grade I match at the LCCA Ground here on Sunday.
Rawalpindi's Naseer Ahmad played a captain's knock of 91 after his
side resumed at 156 for six. He stayed at the crease for 212 minutes,
faced 166 balls and hit 14 boundaries before being bowled by Sajid
Ali.
All-rounder Naeem Akhtar chipped in with a useful 27.
Test paceman Irfan Fazil claimed five for 80. He was well-supported by
fellow pacer Sajid Ali, who took three for 51.
Lahore Whites also made a shaky start as they lost four wickets for 68
runs with the experienced medium-pacer Naeem Akhtar doing most of the
damage by taking first three wickets.
But Tariq Mahmood and Tariq Aziz settled down to share a fifth-wicket
stand of 58 in 75 minutes before the latter fell lbw to Naeem Akhtar
for 31. He struck a six and six fours.
Tariq Mahmood reached an unbeaten 44 in 100 minutes by close of play.
His 63-ball innings includes one six and six fours.
