Doug Bollinger took six wickets to push New South Wales to a 75-run victory over South Australia and he hopes the performance might earn him a spot in the Boxing Day Test. With Australia's bowlers struggling in the defeat in the first Test in Perth, Bollinger picked a good time to star.
"I would love the opportunity and I would grab it with both hands, but I am going to be looking at the one-dayer on Tuesday [for New South Wales against Western Australia] and just go from there," he told AAP. "If I happened to get that opportunity, then fantastic."
The Blues added 14 in the morning before declaring, with Ben Rohrer reaching 57 not out, and the Redbacks were set 300 in a minimum of 91 overs. Bollinger captured the first three wickets to dent the visitors' prospects and returned to knock over the last three.
He had 6 for 47 from 16.2 overs as South Australia fell for 224. The opener Younis Khan top scored with 90 before becoming the second of Nathan Hauritz's three victims.
