Marnus Labuschagne scored his maiden first-class century and Matt Renshaw narrowly missed out on his as Queensland took control on the second day against South Australia at the Gabba. At stumps, the Bulls were 5 for 316, leading the Redbacks by 113 runs, with Nathan Reardon unbeaten on 56 and Chris Hartley on 5.
South Australia began the day on 9 for 191 and added only 12 to their total, Alex Ross missing the chance for his maiden first-class century when he was left unbeaten on 92. Queensland stumbled to 2 for 32 before Renshaw and Labuschagne combined for a 189-run stand that ended when Renshaw was run out for 94 attempting a quick single.
Labuschagne fell soon afterwards, caught behind off Chadd Sayers, but by then he had reached 112. It continued a solid start to the summer for Labuschagne, who scored 67 against Victoria in the day-night Shield game at the MCG earlier in the season.
