Victoria remained on top of the Twenty20 points table with a 78-run win over Western Australia at the MCG. Brad Hodge scored a 54-ball 73 and added 78 with David Hussey to take the Bushrangers to 183.
Western Australia started their chase with the openers adding 38 before Liam Davis was bowled by Shane Harwood for 20. In his next over, Harwood dismissed Luke Ronchi (6) and when Shaun Marsh fell in the ninth over, the Warriors were at 3 for 58. Ten more runs were added before things began to unravel in the 11th over - Theo Doropoulos was stumped off David Hussey and from the next ball Marcus North was run out as the Warriors fell to 5 for 69.
The required rate had increased when Cameron White brought himself on in the 15th over. He removed Adam Voges and Craig Simmons off his first two deliveries, which were half-volleys, and then dismissed Brett Dorey and Umar Gul in his next over to wrap up the match with 18 balls to spare. White's 4 for 10 were his best Twenty20 figures.
