4.23 pm: Sri Lanka were simply too strong for a young and relatively inexperienced Indian side. Losing Sehwag to injury was a blow for he was best equipped to handle Mendis and Murali. However the rest struggled from the onset and lost four top-order wickets to the medium-pacers. They never recovered from that blow after which Mendis came on to bamboozle the Indian batsmen once again.
Ajantha Mendis is the Man of the Match for his spell of 3 for 21 off nine overs including four maidens.
The second game is on August 20. Sri Lanka will be quietly confident going into that contest while India have little time to plug gaping holes in their game.
That's it from us at the moment, thank you for all your emails, this is George Binoy signing off. Cheers.
