  • It was the 1613th ODI in cricket history.

  • It was the 14th match between these two sides. The record now reads : England 7, Zimbabwe 7.
  • It was the first day-night match on this venue. Manchester thus became England's second (after Bristol) and 32nd venue in the world to host a day-night match.
  • Zimbabwe's total (114) was its lowest against England obliterating the previous lowest of 131 at Bulawayo on 18-02-2000. Incidentally Zimbabwe's lowest ever in ODIs is 94 versus Pakistan at Sharjah on 06-04-1997.
  • The total was also the lowest for Zimbabwe in all matches when batting first. The previous lowest was 116 against Australia at Harare on 23-10-1999.
  • The seventh wicket stand of 49 runs between Andy Flower and Stuart Carlisle is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against England. This obliterates the 32 run-partnership between Grant Flower and Heath Streak at Bulawayo on 16-02-2000.
  • Paul Strang recorded his fourth duck against England. Only Australia's Kim Hughes (6 ducks in 23 matches) and West Indies' Michael Holding (5 in 21) have aggregated more ducks in a career against England.
  • Alec Stewart equalled Australia's Adam Gilchrist's world record of most dismissals in a match by taking six catches behind the wicket. Gilchrist had taken six catches against South Africa at Cape Town on 14-04-2000. Interestingly no other English `keeper had succeded in effecting more than four dismissals in a match before Stewart.
  • Stewart became the only second wicketkeeper captain to have claimed five or more victims in a match. Zimbabwean Andy Flower had claimed five victims against South Africa at Harare on 22-10- 1995.

While batting second England had beaten Canada with a record 277 balls to spare at Manchester on 14-06-1979 and Sri Lanka with 215 balls to spare at Leeds on 20-06-1983. Overall it was the 14th largest win in ODIs in terms of balls spared by a team.
  • England's win was also the largest by balls in a day-night match. Australia had beaten South Africa by 153 balls at Cape Town on 14-04-2000.
