Asian Test Final: Sri Lankan team, ACC president due today

14-member Pak team arrives
A 14-member Pakistan cricket team, led by Wasim Akram, arrived in the
city yesterday morning to take on Sri Lanka in the first Asian Test
Championship final to be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium
from March 12 to 16.
Upon their arrival at ZIA, the team, which had a long journey from
Lahore to Dhaka via Karachi immediately after the Lahore Test on
Monday evening, moved to their hotel under strict security
arrangements.
The team had complete rest at the hotel yesterday and will have their
first practice session at the Bangabandhu National Stadium this
morning.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan team headed by Aravinda de Silva will reach
Dhaka this morning.
Tickets for the match have already gone on sale through eleven
branches of Al Baraka Bank from yesterday.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Thilanga Sumathipala, who
is also chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, will
arrive in the city this morning along with the Sri Lankan team.
He will be accompanied by his general secretary Saliya Ahangama and
tournament director Duleep Mendis.
The ACC officials will stay in the city till the final of the Asian
Test final ends on March 16.
The following cricketers and officials of the Pakistan team arrived
yesterday:
Wasim Akram (captain), Moin Khan, Saeed Anwar, Wajahatullah Wasti,
Ijaz Ahmed, Imran Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Shoaib Akhter, Yousaf Youhana,
Arshad Khan, Shahid Afridi, Azhar Mahmood, Saqlain Mushtaq and
Inzamamul Haq.
Officials: Miah Mohammad Munir (manager), Javed Miandad (coach) and
Dr. Dan Keisel (physio).
