Surrey's Michael Carberry has been called up to the NatWest England U19
squad for the forthcoming three one-day internationals against Australia,
it has been announced.
Carberry, 18, toured New Zealand with the U19s last winter, and has been
drafted in to replace Glamorgan all-rounder David Harrison, who has pulled
out of the squad with persistent lower back problems.
The full squad is:
Michael Gough, Captain (Durham)
Ian Bell (Warwickshire)
Graeme Bridge (Durham)
Matthew Bulbeck (Somerset)
Richard Dawson (Yorkshire)
Ian Flanagan (Essex)
Michael Carberry (Surrey)
Giles Haywood (Sussex)
John Inglis (Yorkshire)
Chris Liptrot (Worcestershire)
Richard Logan (Northamptonshire)
Graham Napier (Essex)
Mark Wallace, Wicketkeeper (Glamorgan)
Tim Boon Manager / Coach
Neil Foster Coach
Kirk Russell Physiotherapist
The three one-day internationals will take place at Canterbury (30 July),
Chelmsford (31 July) and Hove (2 August). The match at Hove will be a
day-night match, the first floodlit international to be staged in this
country. This floodlit match will be played with an orange Duke's ball
for the first time.
The matches form a vital part of both sides' preparations towards the U19
World Cup, due to be staged in Sri Lanka early in 2000. The NatWest
England U19 side are the holders after winning the competition in South
Africa in February 1998, beating New Zealand in the Final.
