Well, what do you know? One good win and suddenly everything looks rosy again in England's one-day garden. Of course, one win will not solve their long-term problems with the limited overs game but England are now 8/13 (1.61) to go on and win the seven-match series with India while Rahul Dravid's men are 5/4.
India had been 4/9 to win the series before the first match and those people who backed them at that price will be a little worried after their poor effort at the Rose Bowl.
On the other hand, those who backed England initially will be a little more confident that they can at least improve on their recent woeful record, winning just 19 of their previous one-day internationals, compared to India's record of 12 wins in their past 20.
The key to England's win was that they batted first as they are much better defending a target than chasing one, so watch for the toss in the matches for the rest of the series.
All change
Messrs Bell and Cook have, as we knew they would be, been cut after their efforts at the Rose Bowl. Bell is the new favourite at 11/10, while Cook is 11/8.
However, those of you who chose to back Kevin Pietersen may feel that the new price of 9/2 is worth taking on him to come good - he has the time with six more matches to go.
The same goes for India, with Sachin Tendulkar now 3/1, just behind his captain Rahul Dravid, who is 5/2.
