A few cricket selectees have stomach trouble
By Ilyas Beg
LAHORE, July 6: Some cricketers of the Sri Lanka-bound Pakistan
team were bitten by "belly bug" a few days ago. Those included
the only wicketeeper of the side Moin Khan.
When this reporter contacted late on Sunday night, the
physiotherapist of the team Dr Dan Kiesel said: "Thank God! they
have sufficiently recovered. Now I see no problem."
The foreign expert, Dr Dan Kiesel, who has been looking after
the Pakistan team members for a few years now said that he was
looking forward to make the players gain "peak physical fitness"
in three weeks time after returning from Sri Lanka so that they
could give away their best during the Sahara Cup Cricket
Tournament in Toronto in September. While replying to a
question, Dr Dan Kiesel said: "Inzimam-ul-Haq has been taking
keen interest in running and training. All the boys look well
tuned up for the four-nation fourth Asia Cup Cricket Tournament.
I am a perfectionist and so, I am seldom fully satisfied with
the condition of the boys. I want the boys to gain a high level
of fitness before the Sahara Cup. That will facilitate the
players to face the rigours of the hectic cricket season which
includes two Test series against South Africa and the West
Indies and a host of one-day international matches."
Before leaving for England as captain of the Pakistan "A"
cricket team, Test batsman Muhammad Wasim had told this reporter
that some boys (and he himself was among them) had been having
stomach-problems due to very hot and sultry weather of Lahore
and the water of this city.
