ACF asks for more funds from ICC
The Asian Cricket Foundation (ACF) has sought more funds from
the International Cricket Council (ICC). It has also complained
that the ICC is not treating the Asian region properly. Pakistan
Cricket Board chairman Tauqir Zia told a news agency on Saturday
that "the ACF was formed to generate more funds and develop the
game in the region as the ICC was not doing enough." Tauqir Zia
is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Zia said "We are asking the ICC that since you are making a lot
of money from cricket in Asia please give us at least 50 percent
of that so that we can use it to develop the game in the region."
Zia claimed that the ICC gave only $300,000 to develop the game
and placed Asia below the South American countries in terms of priority. Zia added that the funds granted was not enough given
that the number of cricket-playing countries in the region are
more. But Zia assured that there would be no confrontation between
the ICC and ACF.
The ACF, formed only recently, met last Monday in Dhaka and has
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia as its members.
Madhya Pradesh police to send team to Delhi
A senior official of the Madhya Pradesh police said on Sunday
that it will be sending a team to Delhi to probe former Indian
player Manoj Prabhakar and other directors of the group of
companies alleged to be involved in defrauding the public of
crores of rupees. The police have registered several cases in
this regard. Prabhakar who is alleged to be one of the directors however has claimed that he is no way involved in the companies.
Police sources earlier said that they have seized counterfoils
of the fixed deposits and a house journal. Sources added that
"if necessary the police team, which will be headed by a deputy
superintendent of police, might even seek a production warrant
from a Delhi court and bring Prabhakar and other directors
to Madhya Pradesh."
