Lahore Whites powered their way to a big first innings total Tuesday in their Quaid Trophy Grade-I game against Rawalpindi, thanks to patient half centuries by a trio of their batsmen.
After being put in by Rawalpindi captain Naveed Ashraf, Lahore were an impressive 315 for eight at the close of first day's play at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Opener Kashif Siddique and Rizwan Aslam struck identical scores of 74 and were partners for the second wicket that yielded 105.
Kashif smashed 11 boundaries in a 132 minute stay at the wicket and faced 111 balls while Rizwan was more patient and took 226 minutes for his knock and hit 12 fours. However, a middle order collapse that saw the visitors lose three wickets at the total of 173 briefly put them off track but they recovered well in time with Adnan Usman stroking a fine unbeaten 71. His innings had seven fours.
The wicket-taking honours went to Yasir Arafat who took three for 82 while Mohammad Zahid had figures of two for 53.
