New Zealander Neal Parlane will replace Kenya opener Kennedy Otieno as BAT Sports' overseas player in the ECB Southern Electric Premier League this summer.
The 24-year old Kiwi is expected to make his debut in the opening Premier Division 1 match against Bournemouth at Chapel Gate on Saturday week, May 3.
Parlane is a regular provincial cricketer, batting three for Wellington, who finished runners-up in this year's State Championship in New Zealand.
He scored 474 runs in 17 innings for Wellington this season, making a top score of 75 against Canterbury.
Parlane, who was previously with Northern Districts, has made an aggregate 1,155 runs in provincial cricket, including one century.
Among Parlane's teammates at Wellington is Black Caps opener Matthew Bell and wicketkeeper Chris Nevin, who has played for Liphook & Ripsley in the past.
Kennedy Otieno withdrew from his planned BAT return after Kenya's success in the World Cup.
