Lara In Trouble Once Again
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - West Indies` record breaking batsman
Brian Lara was at the centre of more controversy on Wednesday.
Lara, 26, is believed to have had a heated row with the West
Indies Australian born physiotherapist Dennis Waight on the
flight from India to London after the World Cup.
Andrew Sealy secretary of West Indies Cricket Board of Control
(WICBC) admitted receiving a letter from Waight, with the West
Indies since the 1979 Kerry Packer series, but would not
elaborate on the contents.
Lara, holder of the world record for runs made in a single
test innings and English county cricket, has had a troubled
time lately.
He was fined by the WICBC for leaving the team without
permission during their tour of England last year, and on account
of that he subsequently withdrew from November`s World Series Cup
one day series against Sri Lanka and Australia in Australia.
During the world cup derogatory remarks he made about the
South Africans were taped by Indian journalists and published in
a Delhi weekly magazine.
