O'Connor poised for recall
Left-arm swing bowler Shayne O'Connor, the leading wicket-taker in
domestic cricket this summer, is poised for a recall to the New
Zealand cricket team for the second test against South Africa. The
25-year-old O'Connor will line up for New Zealand A against the
tourists in their three-day game, starting today at Lincoln.
New Zealand A: Gary Stead (captain), Bryan Young, Robbie
Lawson, Mark Bailey, Mathew Sinclair, Scott Styris, Gareth Hopkins,
Carl Bulfin, Brooke Walker, Shayne O'Connor, Chris Drum. South
Africa: Hansie Cronje (captain), Gary Kirsten, Herschelle Gibbs,
Jacques Kallis, Daryll Cullinan, Dale Benkenstein, Shaun Pollock,
Nicky Boje, Steve Elworthy, Paul Adams, Victor Mpitsang.
Country team named
The Canterbury Country cricket team to play in the first defence of
the National District Cup, against Dunedin City, is:
Greg Lewis (captain), Simon Edwards, Nathan Jones, Harley James, Mark
Patterson, Danny Bulman, Paul Rugg, Dean Serra, Brendon Donkers, Mike
Sharpe, Hamish Pavey and Brad Doody. The three-day match starts at
Dudley Park, Rangiora, at 10.30am today.
