Persian Gulf championship planned
A tournament involving the various national teams of the Persian Gulf may be played in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in January.
It's early days, but the national associations of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Oman, as well as Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Cricket League are discussing the possibility of the first gathering of Gulf national teams.
Emirates Cricket Board secretary, Mr Mazhar Khan, was reluctant to comment further, adding that progress in the near future was unlikely as most officials are uncontactable due to the Gulf summer holiday season.
Meanwhile, "Cricket Around The World", which has so far featured news from 69 countries in 12 previous editions, is on the trail of the rumoured Royal Amman Cricket Club. The rumours have strengthened following the siting of Jordan's Prince Hassan at last month's World Cup final.
