The Vaux Northern League has approached the Jennings Ribblesdale
League regarding further talks over possible feeder league status for
the Ribblesdale League.
The Northern League is involved in on-going discussions with the
Lancashire and English Cricket Boards about becoming a Premier League
for the county.
However, accreditation is likely to involve incorporating a feeder
league system which could lead to the Northern and Ribblesdale Leagues
coming together.
Preliminary talks have previously taken place and may now be revived
if the Ribblesdale League agrees.
"It's not a formal approach as such," said Northern League chairman
Norman Brown.
"At the request of the league committee I wrote to Rod Slater
(Ribblesdale League secretary) at executive level to see where we are
going."
The Ribblesdale League's executive will now be asked at a meeting next
Monday to take the matter to a league meeting where they would be able
to guage the feeling of the clubs towards becoming a feeder to the
Northern League.
Meanwhile the Northern League clubs are consulting with their players
over the ramifications of becoming a Premier League and playing
60-over cricket.
The clubs are expected to report back to a committee meeting later
this month.
