SPCL Week13 - Rain wipes out complete programme

Heavy rain washed out Saturday's entire ECB Southern Electric Premier League programme.

The top of the table clash between unbeaten Division 1 leaders BAT Sports and Bashley (Rydal) was among the three matches to be called off without a ball being bowled.

The matches between Andover and Bournemouth, and South Wilts and Portsmouth were also postponed.

Play was only possible on two grounds - at Calmore Sports, where Havant were struggling at 58-3 when the rains came, and on the Rose Bowl Nursery ground, where 45 overs were bowled.

The Hampshire Academy lost openers Alex Richardson and Peter Hammond early on against Liphook & Ripsley, but rallied to make 131-4 before play was abandoned.

Tom Burrows (36) and Kevin Latouf (33) led the recovery, with Ian Hilsum hitting an unbeaten 31 before play was called off.

Four of the five Division 2 matches began - and all four abandoned after an hour or so - while the elements spared Bashley (Rydal) II from further misery at promotion chasing Rowledge, who were 263-2 when rain halted play in the 42nd over.

Chris Yates (117 not out) and Justin Larrescy (93) shared a 184-run second-wicket partnership for Rowledge, who still had eight overs batting time left when the game was abandoned.

Among the matches to be called off was the key championship clash between Alton and Ventnor at the JCG.
