Sri Lanka: ACUSL Secretary to England

The General Secretary of the Association of Cricket Umpires of Sri
Lanka (ACUSL) Dickie Dunuwille Jnr. will make an official tour of
England where he will have discussions with the Umpires Association
of England on various aspects of umpiring and to further improve the
standards.
Dunuwille Jnr. will also officiate in some matches in England at club
level and also witness the World Cup which is now in progress. He
will be accompanied by the Assignment Secretary Ananda Dissnayake.
Dunuwille who was elected to the post of General Secretary with an
overwhelming majority hails from the hill capital. He had his early
education at St. Anthony's College and later at Dharmaraja College,
Kandy. He is the younger brother of late Dickie Dunuwille Snr. a
demon spin bowler who played with distinction for St. Anthony's
College in the late forties.
Dunuwille Jnr. started his umpiring with the Central Province Cricket
Umpires Association and later with the Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires
Association before the latter was amalgamated with the ACUSL. He is
also a member of the Cricket Board's Umpires' panel and officiated at
the prestigious Royal - Thomian match this year. Dickie Dunuwille
will leave Sri Lanka on June 6 and is expected to be away for six
weeks.
