With the senior team having completed their disappointing campaign at the European Championships in Jersey, the U19's now prepare to take center stage in their event which gets underway in the Isle of Man on Wednesday. Israel is grouped along with Belgium, Denmark, France and Norway in the 10-nation tournament which also includes Germany, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Italy and Spain. Games will all be played over 50 overs according to one-day international rules.
The Israel squad, captained by Rafi Schachat, includes four players from the senior team - Nir Dokarkar, Josh Evans, Itamar Kehimkar and vice captain Shifron Waskar - who will be expected to use the experience gained in the senior team and really shine playing against players in their own age group. Mikki Cohen, Shalom Kristi and Levi Divekar are other players with plenty of experience having represented Israel in previous European youth tournaments, whilst the remaining players are younger and sure to gain from the experience. Israel starts their campaign against France on Wednesday. The team will be accompanied by Joey Tal (manager), Herschel Gutman (coach) and Eli Yaakov (scorer). Naor Gudker will officiate in the tournament as an umpire.
