The West Indian women's cricket team will undergo an intensive training camp ahead of the World Cup. The squad is still struggling for funds, but this will not stop them from getting set for the big tournament, reported the BBC website. The 10-day training camp will be held in Jamaica.
"The squad will undergo extensive training in all the technical areas of the game," the report quotes the West Indies Women's Cricket Federation as saying. Just recently, Ann Browne-John, the coach, had revealed that the team was strapped for cash. "We don't have the necessary funding," she said. "We are hoping good sense will prevail with sponsors.
"We have to be there. As soon as we qualified we had discussions with the WICB [West Indies Cricket Board]. They have indicated they will assist further but I am not sure of the extent of the assistance."
