O'Donnell's whirlwind 74 off just 29 balls, including the fastest half-century in one-day internationals (off eighteen deliveries), virtually sealed Sri Lanka's fate. In all, O'Donnell hit six sixes and four fours, and his 106-run partnership with century-maker Jones, following 137 for the second wicket between Marsh and Jones, put Australiaen route to their highest total in one-day internationals. Their previous highest, 328 for five off 60 overs, had also been scored against Sri Lanka, at The Oval in the 1975 World Cup.
