USA Men's Cricket Team History

USA were hosts and participants in the first ever international cricket match, against Canada in 1844, but their involvement in international cricket was minimal for the next century and a half.

Their first major achievement came in 2004, when they won the Six Nations Challenge to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy in England that year. The two matches USA played were their first official ones in international cricket, per ICC regulations. But they had to wait 14 more years to play their next international.

The years following their Champions Trophy appearance were followed by administrative instability, but USA performed creditably on field, finishing second in the WCL Americas Division One in 2006. The following year they were forced to withdraw from the ICC WCL Division Three - a top-two finish would have promoted them to Division Two - after the ICC suspended the United States Cricket of America Cricket Association (USACA) over financial and governance issues.

Once they were reinstated, in 2008, they started from the bottom, WCL Division Five. Despite USACA being suspended again in 2015 and the ICC taking over, USA's performances earned them promotion to Division Three in 2017. The same year, USA Cricket, the new body that replaced USACA, came into being.

In 2018, USA beat Singapore in the final of the WCL Division Three, where their top-four finish assured them of ODI status.
