Donald Tiripano

Donald Tiripano is an accurate seam-bowling allrounder with nearly a decade-long career for Zimbabwe across all formats. He has over 300 first-class wickets and over 3000 first-class runs across 100-plus appearances.

He grew up in Mutare, playing cricket on the streets before his talent was noticed and got him a scholarship to attend Mutare Boys High School. He followed in the footsteps of Elton Chigumbura to become a bowling allrounder. Along with the ability to swing and seam the ball, he added cutters and a homespun back-of-the-hand slower ball to his repertoire in limited-overs cricket later in his career.

Consistent success with Mountaineers in the early 2010s earned Tiripano Test and ODI debuts with Zimbabwe in 2014, picking up his first five-for in an ODI against Afghanistan. In November 2016, he defended three runs in the final over in an ODI against West Indies in Bulawayo to secure a memorable tie.

Tiripano worked hard on his batting and topped the run-scoring charts for Mountaineers in the 2017-18 Logan Cup competition. He was part of Mountaineers' Logan Cup winning squad in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2024. In 2021, he was the second-highest run-scorer for Zimbabwe in a Test against Afghanistan - his first test fifty - albeit in a losing cause. He followed that up later in the year with a second fifty, against Bangladesh in Harare.
