Chile - Argentina A rematch in final

Chile and Argentina A booked their places in tomorrow's South American Cricket Championship final with contrasting victories on the third day of competition action in Buenos Aires.

At Pinazo, Argentina A demolished the Andean Masters by 10 wickets. The Masters were bowled out for 87 in 25,4 overs, with Sunyog Chauhan (2 for 13), Sergio Ciaburri (2 for 28) and Martin Hemmingsen (2 wickets in 4 balls) doing the bulk of the damage.

Obviously intent on boosting their nett run-rate in case of a Brazilian victory over Chile, a blazing unbroken stand of 88 runs in only 6,3 overs between Charles Gibson (30 not out) and Sunyog Chauhan (57 not out) rocketed Argentina A to a resounding victory.

As it turned out, the fireworks at Pinazo were unnecessary, as Chile held off a brave Brazilian challenge at Belgrano to win by 20 runs in a tight match.

Chile made 195 in their 40 overs, largely thanks to Paul Hollis with 48 and Blair Douglas with 36. For Brazil, Paul Eason took 3 for 17.

In reply, Brazil maintained a steady assault on their target, but eventually succumbed to 175 all out in 37,4 overs a mere 2 runs short. Captain Matt Featherstone led the way with 60, while the best of the Chilean bowlers was Simon Shalders with 3 for 18.

Chile will now be aiming to beat Argentina A in the showpiece final at Longchamps, Club Atletico Lomas, and repeat their fine victory of Friday to win the coveted title and trophy for the very first time.
