Hampshire go down to Geordies withing 75 minutes

Hampshire suffered their second successive innings defeat when they went down to Durham at the Riverside within 75 minutes of the start of the fourth day's play.

Once Nic Pothas had been bowled off the bottom of his bat, the writing was on the wall, although unlike the first innings, the tail did wag but the lunch trollies were wheeled into the dining room an hour early despite Mascarenhas, Mullally and Tomlinson all reaching double figures.

Neil Killeen bettered his career best stats with 7 for 70 and, but for the innings defeat by Derbyshire yesterday against Northamptonshire, Hampshire would be languishing at the bottom of the pack.

The last Championship match of the season at Derby holds a twist.
