The International Cricket Council Match Referee at the 3-sponsored Test match in Melbourne between Australia and India is investigating maintenance to the pitch before play on day five.

Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Cricket Club who are jointly responsible for staging the Test, have offered the Match Referee, Mike Proctor, their full assistance in investigating the issue.

The three organisations said in a joint statement today that they had been notified that a repair had been made to the pitch before the start of play as part of normal match day maintenance.

They were also advised that the pitch was immediately restored to its match condition as of the end of play on day four under the direction of the match umpires.

Cricket Australia is handling all media enquiries in relation to the issue, and on behalf of the three organisations.
