SCOTLAND have named a 30-strong preliminary squad for this
summer's World Cup. The final squad of 15 has to be submitted by
March 31.
A new International Cricket Council ruling means Scotland could
also include Yorkshire all-rounder Gavin Hamilton if he does not
make England's final 15. He is currently playing in Australian
Grades cricket.
The preliminary squad contains a blend of experience and youth.
Old stagers Iain Philip and Bruce Patterson are joined by
youngsters who featured in last year's under-19s World Cup in
South Africa such as Fraser Watts, Greg Butchart, Martin Hay,
Gregor Maiden and Craig McKellar, the latter perhaps the biggest
surprise choice.
