Swan called into Warriors line-up
Subiaco-Floreat fast-bowler Gavin Swan has been called into the Western Warriors squad for the Pura Milk Cup clash against the Southern Redbacks at the WACA Ground from Friday, 14 January to Monday, 17 January, 2000.
Swan (29), with 25 wickets at 10.8, is the SmokeFree WA League's leading wicket-taker after eight rounds of competition this season. With injuries to a number of key Warriors, the right-arm quick has been called from outside the 1999-2000 WA squad.
WA selectors today named a 13-man squad with four changes to the side which lost outright to NSW at the WACA in December. Adam Gilchrist (Australia), Damien Martyn (Australia), Brendon Julian (knee) and Jo Angel (broken arm) go out of the side, while Simon Katich, Rob Baker, Marcus North, Michael Dighton and Gavin Swan come into calculations.
Justin Langer will captain WA for the first time in a Pura Milk Cup clash (he previously led WA in a against England at the WACA in 1998-99). Langer will be available for media interviews at the rear of the WACA's Prindiville Stand at 3.30pm today.
