Cooper ton revives South Australia

Tom Cooper and Johan Botha put on an unbeaten 193-run partnership for the fourth wicket, taking advantage of an injury-hit Queensland to lift South Australia in Adelaide

South Australia 4 for 294 (Cooper 165*, Botha 59*) v Queensland
Scorecard
Tom Cooper and Johan Botha put on an unbeaten 193-run partnership for the fourth wicket, taking advantage of an injury-hit Queensland to lift South Australia at the Gilderol Stadium in Adelaide. South Australia were 4 for 101 before the pair came together on the first day.
James Hopes, the Queensland captain, was unavailable to play because of a stomach problem, according to AAP. Chris Hartley, who replaced Hopes as captain, was also sidelined by a similar issue during the afternoon, and fast bowler Ben Cutting injured his finger after bowling only four overs. He left the field just after lunch and did not return.
Having taken only a squad of 12 to Adelaide, Queensland were forced to call on cricketers from Papua New Guinea as substitutes. They were in the city for a training camp.
Cooper thrived against the depleted side, hitting seven sixes and 18 fours during his 165 off 206 deliveries. While he scored at a strike rate of 80, Botha was more sedate, his 59 not out coming off 148 balls.
Their stand rescued the innings after Michael Klinger had been dismissed for 3 and the raw batsmen in the top order - 19-year old Travis Head, Sam Raphael and 19-year old debutant Kelvin Smith - had fallen cheaply. Luke Feldman took two of the four wickets to fall on the day. Ryan Harris finished with 1 for 27 from 15 overs in his first first-class game since injuring his hamstring during the Ashes in England.
