Stats editor Every week the Numbers Game takes a look at the story behind the stats, with an original slant on facts and figures. The column is edited by S Rajesh, ESPNcricinfo's stats editor in Bangalore. He did an MBA in marketing, and then worked for a year in advertising, before deciding to chuck it in favour of a job which would combine the pleasures of watching cricket and writing about it. The intense office cricket matches were an added bonus.

@Mehboob Khan and MrGupta, in those times tests were played 3 or 4 per team in a year. So, count the time that MIGHTY India scored their first double not how many tests they played. An apple and an orange can never be compared.
Posted by@Mrgupta ... Fully agree with you :)
Posted by@Anwar Chowdhury ... When India and England started their Cricket ... there were no ODI, T20, IPL, BPL ...... so Dont you think that its not appropriate to COMPARE those days with now ... :)
Posted byIts would be nice to see, if Bangladesh can continue this, consistency is what they have lacked the most. It would be fun having another team that can play good-hard cricket.
And the pitch is flat but hey you still need to have the stamina and technique to bat this long. Srilanka's all new low not a good day for Vaas as a coach
Posted by Dreamscrapper on (March 12, 2013, 4:29 GMT)Bangladesh is improving faster than most other test playing nations. After these remarkable feats, tigers have proved that they have achieved all the batting skills required to play a test match appropriately and can face any tough opposition. They have made 8 records in this match! Well done, Tigers!
Posted by mrgupta on (March 12, 2013, 4:14 GMT)@Anwar Chowdhury: Congrats to Bangladesh for finally reaching this milestone. I hope there are more to come. Just one quick update on your Cricket Knowledge though. India got their first double Century in their 45th test. Yes that was after playing for 23 years but they played only 45 tests till then. Bangladesh got their first Double in their 76th test. Yes they took 12 years and 3 months to play close to double the number of tests India played in 23 years!
Posted by tmp789 on (March 12, 2013, 1:07 GMT)What happened to the pretty SL bowlers and fans who comment on every article involving India?
Posted byAgree with Anwar Chowdhury.
Posted by bayzid47 on (March 11, 2013, 22:48 GMT)As BD is improving, I don't think this records would last long.... There will be now records in every series they play....
Good luck Tigars
Posted byIndia got their 1st double hundred after playing 23 years of test cricket, England got that after 26 years, but Bangla Tigers got the double hundred after 12 years and three months! Bravo Bangladesh!
