Gomez fifty frustrates Andhra

Raiphi Gomez's unbeaten 74 and his 94-run, eighth-wicket stand with Unnikrishnan Manukrishnan lifted Kerala from a floundering 108 for 7 after they were put in to bat by Andhra in Vizianagaram. KB Pawan and VA Jagadeesh had given Kerala a solid start, adding 55, before pacer D Shivkumar struck quickly to dismiss both openers, as well as Amit Verma, and leave Kerala at 64 for 3. That score quickly turned to 108 for 7 after Cheepurapalli Stephen, Paidikalva Vijaykumar and Bandaru Ayyappa chipped in with wickets. Gomez played a brisk innings, hitting seven fours and five sixes during his 99-ball stay, which helped Kerala finish the day at 206 for 7.

Assam reached 133 for 6 on the opening day of their match against Jharkhand, their innings held together by Arun Karthik's unbeaten 55. Arun's 62-run, third-wicket partnership with Sibsankar Roy gave the innings a lift but the stand was bracketed between periods when the side lost quick wickets. Rituraj Singh and Ajay Yadav gave Jharkhand the early breakthroughs and once the stand between Roy and Arun Karthik was broken, Assam lost their next four wickets for 28 runs before play was called off early due to bad light.

Centuries from 19-year-old debutant opener Tanmay Agarwal and Hanuma Vihari led Hyderabad to an imposing 290 for 1 on the first day of their game against Goa. The pair finished the day unbeaten and will be looking to extend their second-wicket stand of 276 on the second day. Hyderabad lost opener Akshath Reddy in the third over, after being put in to bat, but Agarwal and Vihari ensured the side fought back and then dominated Goa as the day progressed. Agarwal ended the day on 114 off 300 deliveries while Vihari amassed 163 off 235 balls.

The first day's play between Services and Tripura was abandoned to poor weather. The toss between the two sides, which was won by Services, took place at around 11.40am and the game was scheduled to start at 12.10pm but was delayed again before being called off around 3.30pm.
