At Ahmedabad, October 5. Australia won by seven wickets to clinch the series. Despite a sound opening partnership of 104 between Shastri and Binny, and some bold late hitting by Azad, India could manage only 206 from their 46 overs. Their bowling, too reliant on Kapil Dev, could not contain the Australians, for whom Wessels, Wood, Border and Hughes batted with the minimum of fuss.
