Neil McKenzie, the former South Africa batsman, has been named Bangladesh's batting consultant. He will join the senior squad on July 24, during the one-day series in the West Indies.
McKenzie, who has been given the role till the 2019 World Cup, fills the last vacant position in Bangladesh's coaching staff, a position that had remained vacant for nearly a year. Steve Rhodes and Ryan Cook joined as head coach and fielding consultant in the last month.
McKenzie, whose name had been discussed for a long time in the BCB, is the third appointment since Gary Kirsten became the the board's consultant on appointing coaches.
Previously, Thilan Samaraweera was Bangladesh's batting coach and, after his departure, the BCB's High Performance head coach Simon Helmot had taken charge on that front on a temporary basis until the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka earlier this year.
McKenzie has worked with South Africa as batting consultant on two assignments.
