The inquiry report on the bribery scandal, commissioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has been submitted to Jagmohan Dalmiya. DV Subba Rao, who has conducted the inquiry, said that he has finished ahead of schedule.
"I have sent the report to the cricket Board office in Kolkata by courier," Rao said. "I have done my job. It is now for the BCCI to decide the next course of action." The report will now be referred to the BCCI's disciplinary committee.
He added that his inquiry had gone off smoothly, and everyone had cooperated with him. Abhijit Kale, Kiran More, Pranab Roy and Sanjay Jagdale, the protagonists concerned, had all deposed before him in Vishakhapatnam.
Meanwhile, in what is probably a redundant move, Kale has appealed to the Mumbai High Court to revoke the suspension against him, the legality of which had earlier been ratified by the Pune District Court. The suspension was to last until the inquiry was over, and further legal battles might well erupt after the BCCI studies the report and decides what to do.
