South Africa v Kenya

At Benoni, October 7

15-Apr-2003
At Benoni, October 7. South Africa won by seven wickets. South Africa 5 pts. Toss: Kenya.
If the pitch was slow, Kenya's progress was even slower. Pollock began with a no-ball, but Otieno pushed forward at his first legitimate delivery to edge a catch. Painfully sluggish batting from Shah and David Obuya took Kenya to 27 for one by the 16th over, and there was relief for a fair-sized crowd when Ntini forced Shah to step on to his stumps; his 50 balls had yielded eight runs. Tikolo was far more fluent in an accomplished, unbeaten 68. His partners could not feed him enough of the strike, however, and between the 38th and 43rd overs, he faced only five balls. Both Kirsten and Gibbs, deceived by the pace of the pitch, mistimed pull shots against Odoyo, but Kallis and McKenzie made sure of an easy win.
Man of the Match: S. M. Pollock.
