At Cape Town, April 23

15-Apr-1999
At Cape Town, April 23. South Africa won by nine wickets. Toss: South Africa.
Rain forced the final to be abandoned on April 22 and replayed the next day. South Africa easily maintained their dominance over Pakistan in one-day cricket, taking their winning streak to 12 games. On a bouncy pitch, they dismissed them for 114 and then cantered home, losing only Rindel as Kirsten scored an unbeaten fifty. Pakistan collapsed from 84 for three to lose seven wickets for 30, five of them to Klusener, who seamed and swung the ball to great effect. Saeed Anwar hit three sixes in his 30 runs, but only three others reached double figures, including Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was unlucky to be given caught behind by umpire Mitchley.
