Sylhet made light of the unavailability of Alok Kapali and Tapash Baisya, taking a first-innings lead of 225 against Barisal on the second day of their match at the Sylhet Stadium.
Kapali and Baisya were away at the preparatory camp before the tour to Zimbabwe, but Sylhet didn't feel their absence as Barisal were bundled out for 130 after electing to bat. Towhid Hossain top-scored with an unbeaten 31 off 70 balls, while Nabil Samad was the most successful bowler for Sylhet, taking 3 for 23 with his left-arm spin.
Sylhet's batsmen then got among the runs. Though none of them scored a fifty, their top nine batsmen all went past 20, allowing the team to notch up 355. Rana Miah top-scored with 47.
