Donovan Pagon inched towards his a composed hundred, his second regional first-class century, as Jamaica reached 293 for 8 on the opening day of their fifth round Carib Beer Series match against Trinidad & Tobago at the Alpart Sports Club.
Pagon, 22, suffered cramps midway through his innings and was forced to retire hurt before returning and remaining unbeaten on 88. Jamaica, who currently lead the points table, battled away after being sent in by Daren Ganga, the T&T captain. Pagon struck 12 fours in his knock and stitched together an 88-run second wicket stand with Danza Hyatt (52).
Carlton Baugh, the former West Indian wicketkeeper, made an entertaining 53 and added 52 with Nikita Miller at the end of the day.
