Cheteshwar Pujara, who is looking to work his way back into the national Test team after recovering from a knee injury sustained during the 2011 IPL, will lead India A on a tour of the Caribbean in June. West Indies A will host India A for three four-day matches, three one-day matches and two Twenty20s on the tour, which begins in Barbados on June 2.

Pujara will be assisted by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. Rohit Sharma, Abhinav Mukund, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Dinda, Rahul Sharma and RP Singh also feature in the 15-man squad named by the BCCI. The team will play three four-day matches, three one-dayers and two Twenty20s in all.

West Indies chief selector Clyde Butts said that A tours provide an opportunity for fringe players to develop their game at the international level and impress the selectors. "The West Indies Cricket Board has shown a commitment over the last few years to providing a number of opportunities for our players to develop," he said. "We hope that the players selected will take the opportunity to play meaningful cricket and put their hands up in the hope of making the senior team."

I wish all the best for Indian cricket team..!

This team not good for T20's . Apart from rohit and rahane no one hit a big shots. Some times shikar also doing great job for team. Now a days rayadu also play good cricket in all formates and his also part time wicket keeper as well as his hitting big shots. we would like to give more chances to rayadu, dinesh karthik, uthappa, nandeem, avana, appana, pankaj sing and pathan brothers.

Not selecting Pankaj Singh is baffling n poor....bowling is a worry...Balaji is still good enough to play test cricket....cd have been given trial ahead of R P Singh....VRV Singh is another name that cd have be considered...everyone talks eSrt twin batting failures in Australia n England but bowling was even poor....Zaheer n I shant failed.....badly......atleast Sreesanth took a five for in SA....therefore..no point ignoring him...his asset is his aggression which India needs badly in bowling department.......

It is good to see some new faces in India"A" team and BCCI is also providing opportunities to the Youngsters Off course there are one or two surprising inclusions but the most promising and prominent cricketer Ambati Rayudu should have been given a chance.

Why BCCI going to take badrinath?

  • anshu.s on April 29, 2012, 8:06 GMT

@Neeraj Gupta,i agree with your assesment that most of the batsmen selected are India test prospects but you got to see that this team has got to play 3 odi's n 2 T-20's as well. You tell me apart from Rohit and Rahane which batsmen can hit big shots consistentily and maintain strikerate of 120,may be on there best day Manoj Tiwary and S.Dhawan can do that.Coming back to 4 day squad Manish Pandey was having a terrific season before he did his hernia and Mandeep was good for Punjab what did Shikhar Dhavan do for Delhi in Ranji this year. All i em saying for limited over leg of the series we should sent M.Pandey,S.Tiwary,A.Menaria,Awana,Rayudu,P.chawla,Nadeem,Biinny.Anewys all the batters mentioned were part of the Emerging players tournament in Aus last year.

i m really worried about the current lot of indian bowlers : z.khan,u.yadav,i.sharma,v.aaron,s.sreesanth,a.dinda,v.kumar,p.kumar,i.pathan,m.patel,r.p.singh,a.nehra only first 6 are quick enough or good enough to play test cricket, india needs to stop looking at v.kumar,p.kumar,i.pathan,m.patel and r.p.singh for test matches and try to groom 2-3 FAST bowlers especially for test matches like a.nechim,p.awana and whoever else who is quick .....
