A batsman who represented Australia at the Under-19 World Cup in 2004, Ahillen Beadle did not get his chance at domestic level until the 2014-15 season, when at the age of 28 he made his debut for the Sydney Thunder. His cricket career had been somewhat derailed five years earlier, when he was impaled on a metal pole as he tried to save a boundary during a grade cricket match. The incident cost Beadle his left kidney. Born in Bahrain to Sri Lankan parents, Beadle moved with his family to Sydney when he was two.
