Toss New Zealand chose to bowl vs Pakistan
New Zealand captain Sophie Devine opted to bowl against a winless Pakistan side under overcast conditions in Colombo. Devine said they saw a bit of movement here during the England vs Pakistan game and the pitch was doing a little bit. Currently placed fifth, New Zealand made just one change, bringing in the experienced Lea Tahuhu for left-arm quick Bree Illing.
Pakistan fielded an unchanged side. Their captain Fatima Sana said a score above 250 would be a good target to set and they had the "belief" to beat New Zealand and earn their first victory of this Women's World Cup. If Pakistan lose today, they will be out of the tournament.
Pakistan's batting has been under the scanner - they have been bowled out for 114, 159 and 129, and have crossed 200 just once in four completed innings so far. Sana expected her batters to "execute their plans", although they might consider themselves unlucky to miss out on the opportunity to beat England in their previous game.
It was quite muggy in Colombo, with humidity around 71%. The pitch being used for this match is almost in the middle of the ground with square boundaries of 57 metres and 60 metres.
