The Bahamas Cricket Association will held its AGM on March 8 and the season is expected to get underway on March 22. There will be two leagues, a 50-over competition and a two-day competition as well as other tournaments. The turf wickets have been renovated and teams are raring to get started, according to an ICC Americas release.

Cricket Ireland has announced ticket details for their ODI clash with England at Stormont on Thursday August 27. Prices remain the same as they were for the previous game in 2006, with an adult ticket costing £35.
Tickets for the game are priced as follows:
Adults = £35
Under 16 with an adult = £10
Under 16 unaccompanied= £15
OAP = £25
Associate/life members = £28 (place orders through Cricket Ireland office)
Family = £90 (2 adults and 2 Under 16)
Club booking = order 10 tickets or more and receive them for £30 each (must be arranged through the Club Secretary and ordered through Sue Wickham sue.wickham@irishcricket.org in the Cricket Ireland office)

Kevin Hurdle and Delyone Borden are the surprise absentees from Bermuda's squad to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa next month.
Borden has been punished for refusing to play after a pay dispute on a recent Caribbean tour, while Hurdles has failed to recover from a groin injury.
Irving Romaine, who led the side to the 2007 World Cup, is retained as captain, and the former Glamorgan batsman David Hemp is his vice-captain.

Samir Inamdar, Cricket Kenya's chairman, has been endorsed by the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association for re-election at the AGM which is due to be held on March 15. The backing of Kenya's largest province means that Inamdar will almost certainly be returned to office.
The AGM also marks the end of more than two years of dispute between CK and the NPCA which has led to the board's elections being delayed since June 2007. The NPCA constantly stalled in introducing a new constitution and at one stage it appeared as if CK might be forced to disband it and force it to elect new officials.

ICC Europe has announced the regional winners of the ICC Development Programme Awards for 2008.
Cricket Scotland was awarded Best Overall Cricket Development Programme for its multi-faceted approach to growing the game at a community and national level. One of the key initiatives staged in 2008 included a national pilot programme to improve the way cricket is introduced to children in the primary school environment. Due to the success of the pilot programme, 18,000 children were introduced to the game by primary school teachers, an increase of 10% on 2007, with a staged roll-out now in the planning for 2009-10. Cricket Scotland’s Coach Education Programme also enabled more than 100 coaches around the country to achieve a formal ECB coaching qualification, whilst the continuing development of activity centres offering weekly coaching sessions for girls, regional academy and scholarship schemes, and the TOPClub junior programme also highlighted Cricket Scotland’s wide breadth of development activities.
“With such a varied programme of activities and proven results, Cricket Scotland is a worthy winner of this coveted award. What is encouraging is that each year Cricket Scotland proposes and actions new and different cricket development initiatives - an achievement which ultimately benefits the sport and its players at all levels,” said Richard Holdsworth, ICC regional development manager - Europe.
Cricket Ireland was awarded Best Women’s Cricket Initiative for their Leinster and Irish Women’s Cricket forum. Organised by Siobhan McBennett and Catherine Goodman, the forum saw Ireland players, coaches and volunteers attend a highly interactive workshop session aimed at identifying a range of critical issues for women’s cricket nationally. Key outcomes from the forum were fed in to the Cricket Ireland Irish High Performance plan 2008-2015 and have already resulted in an increase in funding towards the women’s game this year.

Lagos have beaten defending champions Gateway by 30 runs to win the Nigerian club title at the superbly named Crocodile Cricket Club.
Lagos won the toss and made 197 for 6 in their allotted 30 overs, with Olayemi Amusa leading the way with 50 from 54 balls. Gateway made a good start, Rotimi Adesanya smashing 61 off 49 balls, but fell away and were bowled out for 167.

Regardless of what happens at next month's World Cup Qualifiers (WCQs), Afghanistan will play against at least of two of Asia's Test nations in 2010, when cricket makes its debut the South Asian Games next year in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The matches, to be played according to the Twenty20 format, will be contested by under-21 teams from Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Asian Cricket Council chief executive, Syed Ashraful Huq, said the Twenty20 format would surely help "the developing countries put up a good show". "Twenty20 is a great leveller and should Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives and Nepal come up against the ODI countries, the matches should be quite competitive," Huq said.

Adrian Robson has been following Bermuda's progress during their warm-up tour of West Indies. The results, he says, are encouraging.
But a side almost unrecognisable from that which competed in the World Cup in Trinidad in 2007 has suddenly grown in stature.
What has been most encouraging in the last few weeks is the improvement in so many areas, notably the top order.
For years Logie has struggled to find an opening partnership, to build a foundation which would allow the rest of the batsmen to get into a comfort zone and play their normal game. Too often the middle order have been forced to play off the back foot, playing with caution just to ensure some kind of respectable total.

The Asian Cricket Council has announced its rankings for non Test-playing countries and Singapore have emerged as the leading side with Nepal and UAE second and third.
The rankings were based on two years’ performances in various levels of competition, including Under -15, U-17, U-19 and ACC Trophy events.
